For as far as one can see, there are only scattered green islands in a vast ocean... This is the mysterious world of Marmundo. Encased in her aqua armor, Rulija, the female knight of Enorme Kingdom, rides a killer whale and fights in the ocean. She is an Aqua Knight. While on a journey, a great storm carries Rulija out to a nameless lighthouse island somewhere on the furthest western edge of Marmundo. A wild child named Asica, who lives at the lighthouse, discovers Rulija (still in her aqua armor) sunken on the on the ocean floor. Asica's father, Arrabil the lighthouse master, pulls Rulija up from the bottom of the ocean.
Rulija wants to reward Asica, so she carelessly promises that she would make him a knight. Backed into a corner, Rulija quickly comes up with an impossible task for the young boy: find a Dragon's Egg! However, Asica takes her seriously and rides his killer whale off to the edge of the world, where the ocean falls into the stars. So, Rulija has to put on her aqua armor, mount her killer whale, and chase after Asica. Can she save him in time...? [From Kishiro's official site Yukitopia]

On Yukitopia the Yukito Kishiro Official Site, Kishiro said: "For this comic, which is currently running in Shueisha's serial magazine, "Ultra Jump", I thought I would do something more bright and enjoyable. I have 2 styles which show different aspects of humanity. One is the "darkness mode", which is about the dark side of human beings, and the other is the "glory mode", which is about the goodness within the heart. It has been a long time since I've done a comic in the "glory mode", but Aqua Knight is one of those. Battle Angle Alita was set in a materialistic world, whereas Aqua Knight takes place in an idealistic world. In this world, even a stone has life, and with the strength of heart, anybody can win. Aqua Knight is actually a remake of a doujinshi comic I made in 1988, called "Bugbuster". I plan to re-release Bugbuster someday, but don't worry, when you read it, you will not easily recognize the story from Aqua Knight. For the 21st century, I wanted to do a story that glorifies life. When you read Aqua Knight, you should feel like a jellyfish floating the sea..."
