Magic Knight Rayearth

Overview

Its Princess kidnapped and imprisioned, the magical world of Cefiro is thrown into chaos. Only Magic Knights from another world have the power to awaken the Spirits and save the Princess and her planet. But can three junior high school girls survive the challenges necessary to become the legendary Magic Knights!?

Magic Knight Rayearth was a manga (comic book series) written by CLAMP and published in Japan by Kodansha Ltd. in 1994. It was made into an anime (animation series) consisting of two TV seasons and one Original Video Animation series (i.e a direct-to-video mini-series). Rayearth is an example of shoujo anime, i.e. anime intended for young girls. However, like Sailor Moon, Rayearth has reached a much wider audience. Rayearth is a little sentimental and sometimes a little slow paced, but the art is fantastic.
