Black Cat was an elite assasin for the secret organization Chronos, his trademark ornate pistol and XIII tatoo feared by all in the underworld. However it came to be believed that Black Cat was himself executed for betraying Chronos. As the reader soon discovers, Train Heartnet a.k.a Black Cat decided to 'go legit' and now catches criminals as a bounty hunter with his suave partner Sven Vollfied. Despite Train's prankish ways and devil-may-care attitude, it's not so easy to walk away from the assasin's life.
