At Inakano Middle School cows have picnics, goldish fly, and everyone always has a good time. The main character and provocateur is happy-go-lucky schoolgirl Wapiko, but the background story of 'Goldfish Warning' revolves around her classmate Chitose. Chitose used to attend Tokaino- an exclusive Private School, but when her father died in debt she was kicked out and had to go to the shabby and broken-down Inakano School. Inakano was the opposite of prim-and-proper Tokaino; rules are lax, students are carefree and farm animals roam the campus. But the students at Inakano are friendly and don't care that Chitose isn't rich. Eventually Chitose discovered that the sneaky lawyer Tanakayama had tricked her and really she had inherited a fortune from her father, including the world's most valuable pet goldfish Gyopi. But instead of going back to Tokaino, Chitose used her money to buy and fix-up Inakano School and is now both its owner and a student. Chitose always tries to make Inakano a sophisticated and prestigous school but is constantly and very humourously thwarted by the fun-loving country-bumpkin unsophisticatedness of Wapiko and her classmates and teachers. Meanwhile Chitose's arch-rivals from Tokaino spy on her and attempt to sabotage the success of her school, but always without success!
