Rei was awoken by the sound of Usagi snoring. Mako asked Rei if something was wrong, but Rei said she just had a strange dream. Usagi, who had also just woken up said she'd had a dream about eating too much ice cream and going to the hospital with Mamoru who had eaten too many dumplings. Mako asked Usagi how she did on her last test. Usagi said she was hoping for more than zero.

Ami scolded her,"Usagi, we're in 3rd year junior high now. It's less than a year until the high school entrance exams." Minako tried to advise Usagi using an old saying, but Ami yelled at Usagi not to listen, because Minako got the saying all wrong. The girls sighed and started studying some more, except for Rei who couldn't forget her horrible dream.

In a dark underground lab, a mysterious professor was heating a test tube which contained a small seed-like object. He poured the tube into a beaker. An explosive reaction occured and a white egg-shaped object floated up into the professors hands. "Kaolinite!" A red-headed woman appeared.

The professor said he had completed the Eggs of Daimon which could detect humans with pure hearts. "Pure hearts?" asked Kaolinite. The professor said that the Sacred Cup, with which he could control the world, would appear when the three talismans were brought together.  These talismans were the Pure Heart Crystals of three special individuals. The professor explained that if they found those individuals and obtained the talismans from them, they could get the Sacred Cup and rule the world! The Daimon egg flew up a chute out of the lab and Kaolinite disappeared.
Usagi got 5 points on the test. The test question was in English and it said, "One day Mr. Ikuhara went to Roppongi to do nanpa. He was very tired after a big work. So he applied for comfort to any tender girl." [Ikuhara was the Series Director for Sailor Moon, Roppongi is a district in Tokyo and nanpa means flirt.]

Usagi walked down the street slumped over, thinking about what her parents would say, and how Rei would be mean to her. "I always see her at this sort of time," thought Usagi.

 Crack! "Ouch", said Usagi.
"Uuuussaaagii!" said Rei. The two girls went to a park and cooled their bruised heads under a water fountain. Rei said she wasn't surprised that Usagi wasn't watching where she was going because anyone would be depressed after getting such a bad score. "But you still have a lot of other strengths other than studying, so don't worry too much."

Usagi was very surprised. "What? You're not yourself Rei".
"Oh", replied Rei who was thinking about her vision. "Usagi, what's your dream for the future?"
Usagi said she wasn't sure because it was so complicated. "What about you Rei?"

 Rei said she wanted to be a singer and a song-writer, a model, a seiyuu (animation voice actress!), and... "And what?" asked Usagi. "Oh, don't make me say it", squirmed a blushing Rei.  She slapped Usagi on the back, hard.

"I can't say: being a wife to my beloved!"
"You just said it," muttered Usagi.

"Usagi, you're going to marry Mamoru some day, right?" said Rei. Usagi started blushing, and said Rei was embarrasing her.
"With that kind of test score," replied Rei, "it's embarrasing for Mamoru-san too!"
"Well, I don't think studying is everything," continued Rei, "but for the sake of your future, and in your case for the sake of Mamoru, study a bit more!" Rei got up to leave. Usagi was looking thoughtful.
"Cheer up Usagi," said Rei, "it's one of your few strengths."
Usagi thought to herself that even though Rei said a lot of sarcastic things, she really cared about her friends.

 

 Meanwhile, at Hikawa Shrine, the Daimon egg merged into one of the trees.
Kaolinite was there observing. "The person with a pure heart should appear soon..."
